That had been a year ago.
Now I sat in a castle sculpted from ice and green crystal, on an island in a region nopony knew where. With the twelve night ponies that my brother had sent to aid me under the guise of searching for Chrysalis and I, the population in the castle had grown. My powers -- and Chrysalis’ powers -- had also grown, evolving in bizarre ways I had never seen before.

No one came when I pondered tossing myself off of a bridge,
fantasizing about my blood, flesh, shattered skull upon the sharp rocks below.
Just as my shadows were the only thing ever had been there for me,
I want to be there for you.
When I'm saving you,
I'm saving myself,
Over.
And over.
And over again.
I keep on collecting damaged souls because with each one I rescue,
The broken child in me smiles a little.
How many souls do I help until my own is salvaged?
